GIG OF THE WEEK

DJ Green Lantern

Tonight: Moloko in Hatfield, Pretoria

Tomorrow: Hush in Joburg

Sunday: Icon in Sandton

We all know Eminem and you have probably bopped to a track or two of his. You’ll probably have heard of Nas and if you’ve listened to his rhymes you’ll have marvelled at his skills as a wordsmith. Then the Michael Jordan of rap, Jay-Z… well, where to even start?

You might be wondering where this is leading, but all will be revealed. These three men, as amazing as they are, have worked with a talented dude called DJ Green Lantern. No, we are not talking about the comic book character but, like the pencilled hero, DJ Green Lantern does wonders on the decks just as if he did have superpowers.

As a music director and a DJ, few can touch DJ Green Lantern and the aforementioned trio can attest to that. Jay-Z is on record as saying, “DJ Green Lantern is often associated with the word ‘dope’.”

If you are curious about his skills then you can see him in action because he is in the country yet again. Having been here three times before, the last time in 2006, the spin master promises to make his time on the decks unforgettable.

DJ Green Lantern starts off his tour tonight in Pretoria, at Moloko in Hatfield. Anyone who knows the capital is aware that Hatfield is the place to be, so it will be a huge party.

If you like the show and want an encore, the DJ will be at Hush in Joburg tomorrow.

If you can’t make either of those gigs, Sunday is your last chance as he’ll be at Icon in Sandton. – Munyaradzi Vomo
