GIG OF THE WEEK
Delicious Food & Music Festival
Blue Hills Equestrian Estate, Kyalami (Tomorrow and Sunday)
This has to be the biggest event of summer. It is summer, right? Since spring can’t make up her mind.
Picture this: for two days you’ll have five chefs cooking up a storm for you. There’ll be eight marquees you can visit to taste the various goodies and up to three pop-up restaurants.
All sushi lovers will be happy to know that there will a bar for them as well, and they can eat as much they wish.
Other services to take note of are the 78 food stalls and kids’ zone that will be available.
But that’s not all. Let’s talk about the music. There will be a dozen local artists, including Prime Circle, Lira, Khuli Chana, Danny K, BlackByrd, Household Funk, MiCasa, Sai and Ribatone, Maleh, Kabomo and DJs QB Smith and Kenzero. There is no need |to introduce any of these artists, but as you can tell it is a good mixed bag.
Rap fanatics will be sorted with Kabomo and Khuli Chana’s set. MiCasa, Sai and Ribatone and DJ QB Smith will be your house music fix. Maleh and Lira come through with that Afro-jazz vibe, while Prime Circle bring in the rock element.
The act for the weekend is Jamiroquai, the blast from the past we all loved. If you were partying in the Nineties then JK’s presence alone should entice you to pop on through, if the food or the local acts don’t. – Munya Vomo
