Gig of the week: Mad in French with Lise Garnier

Garden of Alliance Française de Durban.

IF French sounds are your thing then the Garden of Alliance Française de Durban is the place to be for the Mad in French gig with Lise Garnier (pictured) tonight.

The performance by Garnier is the opening of the Francophonie in Music Festival. Her love for musical instruments led to her studying the trombone, classical guitar and lyrical chanting. On the lighter side of life she trained as a clown.

Her other talents include contemporary dance, theatre as well as writing, composing and interpreting her own productions. To back up her French credentials Garnier performs in France’s street theatre festivals and travelling cabarets, performing the likes of Jacques Brel, Claude Nougaro and Edith Piaf.

Don’t miss the chance to pick up a new language and listen to good music.

Doors open at 6.30pm while the concert starts at 7pm. R25 gets you in and members get in free. For more information call 031 312 9582. – Thandiwe Jumo
