GIG OF THE WEEK: DJ Terry Francis

Sasha Night Club, tonight

IF YOU can’t go to London, then London will come to you for one night only when highly acclaimed DJ Terry Francis (pictured), from Fabric London, plays at Sasha Night Club.

Witness the magic of The Wild Bunch at Sasha’s newly upgraded upstairs floor, as well as three other dance floors featuring the best commercial club hits, old- school classics and some of the funkiest house music.

Francis had a meteoric rise to fame since winning Muzik magazine’s Best New DJ award in 1997. Fifteen years on and he is recognised as one of Britain’s top DJs, although he’d been blazing a trail through the underground for no less than 10 years before the world sat up and took notice.

His music blurs the lines between the past and the present, with flawless mixing skills and an instinctive ability to work a crowd with a kind of shimmering techno sensibility.

Also on the menu are an eclectic fusion of African drummers, fire dancers, face painters and crazy animal masks.

Francis, Mimi Kesaris, Coco Loco, Dakin Auret and Brothers Underground feature on the international upstairs floor; catch DJ BlaynO and Kyle Dizzy K doing commercial and club hits; Funky G, Digital Kaos and Bhashkar are on the house floor; and Dums and The Nutscratchers will keep the VIPs entertained.

l The Wild Bunch feature at Sasha, 17 Harvey Road, Durban, tonight. Women enter free between 8pm and 9pm, guys pay R40 before 10pm, everyone pays R60 thereafter. Doors open at 8pm. No under-18s. Info: call 031 312 9443. – Tonight Reporter
