If ‘N Sync fans were dreaming of a reunion, consider those dreams dashed.
Chris Kirkpatrick told a Miami radio station that, although their performance at the MTV Video Music Awards was fun, there’s no way the group are getting back together.
Twitter went into overdrive when the boy band briefly reunited for their VMAs set, but Kirkpatrick revealed that the band had only done the show for Justin Timberlake.
“No this was for Justin to get the Video Vanguard Award,” he said.
“It was funny because all of us getting back together we remembered what we love about each other and what we hate about each other.
“It was just a bit of fun.”
‘N Sync performed a medley opf their greatest hits on Sunday, with their songs Girlfriend, Gone and Bye Bye Bye taking us back to their teen dream days, but Kirkpatrick, now 41-years-old, revealed it was tough for the crew to roll back the years. Unlike Justin, the rest of the band hadn’t bothered to hone their dancing skills since the split.
“Honestly when he talked to us I thought we were just coming out with mic stands and singing, and when I came home from rehearsals my girl's like 'Why are you drenched?'.
“I'm like I'm too old for this.”
Band mate JC Chasez also ruled out a tour.
Speaking to Ryan Seacrest on Monday, Chasez said: “No … it was just about five guys who were great friends who spent 10 or 15 years together touring and we wanted to give that back to our fans, but we were there mainly to support Justin.”
Chasez echoed Kirkpatrick’s statement about time catching up with the band.
“This was the first time we had a rehearsal together in 10 years, so everyone was going, ‘Can we go through this one more time slowly?’”.
