With the holidays upon us and Christmas just a week away, Therese Owen spoke to Tonight’s favourite musicians about their plans for the big day and bringing in 2014.
Unathi
This time of year is always dedicated to my family. We spend it in Cape Town. The year is so busy for me that I try not to miss the big day.
I am travelling the continent next year with the South African wine tour in celebration of 20 years of demo- cracy. I am also dropping a new single in February.
Tira
I am planning Christmas Day with the family and then I am doing my Underground Party on Boxing Day at Wavehouse in Gateway Mall. This is my 16th year at this party. I am taking a break in the middle of next month and going somewhere far away like Thailand.
Next year I really want to regroup and explore new sounds. I want to try and under-stand this dance genre and what else we can do to entertain fans. We want to give South Africa something else.

I plan to celebrate Christmas with my family in my home province of KZN. I haven’t spent Christmas with them for years because of my work so I made sure all my gigs are all in KZN. For New Year I am in Durban for Fact Durban Rocks.
Next year I’ll be promoting my new album, Exodus. I am also preparing a small booklet for my fans on what I do and what I did to get there. It will be picture-driven and will come with the deluxe edition of the album.
Francois Van Coke – Van Coke Kartel
We will all be with our families on Christmas Day, although I am not really sure about Jedd (Kossew, drummer) because he is Jewish.
After Christmas we tour up the south coast of the Western Cape and end up in Jeffery’s Bay for our New Year’s Eve show.
We plan to launch a video for Klein Wêreld early next year. It is the second single from our Bloed, Sweet & Trane album.
We will also be playing shows all over the country and recording a new song at the end of next month.

As always I am gonna be with family on Christmas Day. For New Year I am in Llandudno and I wanna rock it.
I just want to be prime time and keep it like that in 2014.
