If you thought the summer festivities were over, think again. There is a fun way to handle the heat next weekend when top DJs descend on the Cape for an electronic dance music explosion.

A South African first, the Gatecrashers Summer Festival is set to give partygoers a mix of boombastic beats and water- splashing fun. Hosted by Soundscape Productions at the Ostrich Farm in Durbanville on February 4 and 5, the international festival promises to be filled with exhilarating outdoor entertainment.

With its origins in the UK, the world- renowned lifestyle club brand Gatecrasher has become a global clubbing phenomenon in the past 10 years.

The line-up includes DJ Paul van Dyk as the headlining act. The German master mixologist behind classic anthems such as For an Angel, Words, Another Way, Beautiful Place and Forbidden Fruit is set to rock the festival with more than 50 supporting national DJs and live acts.

Dean Fuel, Headroom, Haezer, Niskerone, Broken Toy, Jason47, Digital Divas, Grimehouse and many others are geared to get the party going.

The weekend will also consist of jet-skis, paragliding, paintball, secure camping, live saxophonists, percussionists and other forms of entertainment.

Diehard Van Dyk fans will get to revel in a meet-and-greet session with the DJ.

The venue will boast three arenas – the Gatecrasher main arena, multiple VIP zones and a VIP village.

“Safety is paramount and Soundscape have made provision for safe and secure parking for 5 000 cars. Security, medical, fire and environmental personnel are on site as well as clean showers and toilets. The event is held in natural settings where everyone is bound by a common love of music, and can express their inner selves freely,” says Mark Abrahams, the director of Soundscape.
