Lady Gaga claims she has returned to the “art of darkness.”

The 'Bad Romance' star, who has been sporting a more toned down image recently, says starring on the upcoming season of 'American Horror Story: Hotel' has reignited her love of outrageous costumes.

The singer said: “I've just been weeping while I'm here [on set] because I have returned to something I've believed in so much, which is the art of darkness. It's not something that everyone understands, but, for the people that do -- 'Horror Story' fans, my fans -- there is a true connection between us, and it's a language within itself.”

The 29-year-old star landed a part on the show after begging creator Ryan Murphy for a role.

She told Entertainment Weekly magazine: “I called him and I said, 'Ryan, I wanna be on 'Horror Story'.' And he goes, 'Okay.' And that was it.”

The blonde beauty made sure to dress to impress before showing up for her first day on set.

Ryan added: “She was wearing diamond pasties, a Band-Aid on her boo-ha, heels and a black veil that Alexander McQueen made for her on the day before his death.”
