WORCESTER - A Florida woman suing comedian Bill Cosby for defamation says she wants her reputation restored after she was branded a liar by his representatives when she came forward with decades-old sexual assault allegations.

Therese Serignese says her case is not about money but about her name. Two other women also are plaintiffs.

The lawsuit is focused on the defamation allegations and not the alleged assaults.

The 58-year-old nurse spoke after a hearing on Thursday at U.S. District Court in Worcester, where a judge denied her lawyer’s request to subpoena records from the lawyer of another Cosby accuser.

Serignese is among more than a dozen women who have recently leveled assault accusations against Cosby, who hasn’t been charged with any crime.

Cosby’s lawyers declined to comment on Thursday.
