Johannesburg - It’s the final countdown for Miss Earth South Africa, Tamerin Jardine.

After a whirlwind three weeks in the Philippines filled with interviews, challenges, press events and projects, she’s the hot favourite to take the crown at the Miss Earth final tomorrow night.

Jardine, 25, has notched up eight medals in the past few weeks – with top three finishes in evening wear, swimwear, national costume and the talent competition – placing her second out of 92 contestants on the competition score sheets, a few points behind Turkey.

Among pageant watchers, she rose from tepid admiration after taking the local title in August, to the international favourite after her wins in the Philippines.

Pageant news blog Missosology has thrown their weight behind South Africa.

“Her lean physique and with the curves at the right places makes her a statuesque beauty,” they wrote this week, raving about her law degree and involvement in environmental projects. “Crown Tamerin – the most gorgeous, the most beautiful contestant in this year’s pageant.”

Tomorrow’s final won’t be broadcast on South African screens, but you can follow @missearth_sa on Twitter for live updates. – The Star
