London - The Cranberries singer Dolores O'Riordan has been taken to hospital after being arrested on Monday morning (10.11.14).

The 43-year-old star was arrested after allegedly assaulting a female flight attendant and a police officer on an Aer Lingus flight from New York JFK which arrived early on Mondaymorning in Shannon, County Clare, Ireland.

A spokesperson for Aer Lingus is quoted by Irish broadcaster RTE News as saying: "An incident took place on board flight EI110 en route from New York to Shannon today.

"The matter is being investigated by An Garda Síochána. As this is a security matter we will not comment any further."

Following the alleged incident, Dolores was taken to University Hospital Limerick after being medically assessed by a doctor at Shannon Garda Station.

The air hostess was said to have been taken to Mid-Western Regional Hospital but the police officer wasn't thought to have been seriously hurt.
