American R&B singer Kenny Lattimore is going to record a duet with South African afro-jazz sensation, Zahara.

Lattimore is in Joburg with Zahara and he has already wowed crowds at a music festival held in Limpopo last week. He will be performing at the Durban Jazz festival on December 26.

The Grammy nominee is in the country to rebrand himself to his South African audience and to collaborate with local artists. “South Africa is ayoba,” said Lattimore. “I love it here, it is fantastic.”

“I feel like I am about to do what I’ve been wanting for the last 10 years. I’m finally going to set up a base in my second home - South Africa.”

Lattimore has been in talks with Universal Music Africa to promote his music on the continent and he will be in several meetings over the festive season to make sure that his new music is available in the US and here at the same time.

Lattimore will be flying his nine-year-old son, Kenny jr, here and will start his Durban visit next week. He plans to stay in South Africa until January 2. - Sunday Tribune
