With just two weeks to go until the 2011 matric finals come to a close, pupils who’ve been immersed in their studies over the past few weeks will no doubt be looking to let off a little steam.
This year’s Stimorol Infinity: Rage Party offers just that opportunity, with the party of a lifetime coming up from the weekend that exams end.
The Rage Party takes place as part of the 4U Rage Festival 2011. Dubbed “the biggest Rage Party” event that South Africa has seen, the party takes place on December 3 and 5 in Durban at the DLI Hall.
Some of the hottest acts have been lined up.
In Durban DJs Niskerone, Gareth Devore, Kent, Yaron, Spindoctor, Mojo, Dunn and the bands Jax Panik and Goodluck are on the bill, with the “dangerous Afrikaans romantic” Jack Parow also a main attraction.
Tonight asked Parow about his matric year and what stood out for him:
Here are his responses.
Your fondest memory of your matric year?
“Matric was a fun time, probably getting my licence was top of the list, being able to drive around without having to get lifts… Also the last day of school and knowing you never have to go back.”
Your absolute worst matric exam and why did you dislike the subject exam so much?
“Maths, I’m sooooo bad at maths, really, heavy, it was awful, I still have nightmares.”
The first thing you did after writing your last matric paper?
“That was very long ago, jeez, I probably smoked a cigarette and phoned my chommies so we could start celebrating.”
Complete the sentence: I spent my matric “bash”/after exam party/rage night…
“…Drinking and partying at Fargos in Durbanville, then at a house party in Durbanville and then at this place we called the circles, which was a complex that was still being built outside of Durbanville and finished off there with more drinking and good times”
Parow will release his eagerly anticipated album, Eksie Ou, under his own label, Parowphernalia, by next month.
Eksie Ou follows his platinum-selling album, Jack Parow, released in May last year.
Rage Party Plettenberg Bay will also host Parow and the widely acclaimed Goldfish.
The full-on Rage Fest takes place until December 10 at Umhlanga, Ballito (Durban) and Plettenberg Bay. Tickets for the Durban rage parties are R120.
