AFRICAN radio DJs are set to make their first appearance at the annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

South African personalities Anele Mdoda, Unathi Msengana, DJ Fresh and Gareth Cliff have been nominated in a new category, favourite South African radio DJ.

All the DJs are presenters of drive-time shows.

Mdoda is the first woman in the country to host a solo drive-time show on 94.7 Highveld Stereo.

Msengana is one-third of the popular trio on Metro FM’s First Avenue morning drive show from 6am to 9am on weekdays.

The show runs a popular segment on Fridays during which schoolchildren call in and talk about whatever they like.
