As millions of South Africans continue to mourn the death of Nelson Mandela, some of the country’s musicians have put their gigs on hold during the 10-day mourning period.

Among those that have postponed their gigs during the mourning period is local duo LCNVL (Locnville).

Brothers Andrew and Brian Chaplin of Locnville postponed their performance at last weekend’s Cedar Lodge Summerjam Festival on the West Rand, where they were to be the headline act.

In a statement released by the twin brothers, they confirmed they would be making plans to rearrange their shows once the mourning period had come to an end.

“We will be making plans to host the affected shows free of charge for all valid ticket holders and will be donating our fees from these shows to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund,” the statement read.

“We understand this will cause disappointment, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. We strongly feel that this is the right thing to do and pay homage to the man who changed not only this country and its citizens, but the world as a whole. We hope that you will understand and respect our stance.” - The Star
