Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne gave up on marriage counselling because it made him angry.

'The X Factor' judge briefly split from the Black Sabbath rocker in April this year after he started taking drugs and drinking again but says the strength of their family helped them through after therapy sessions proved futile.

Sharon, 61, told the new issue of HELLO! magazine: “It was something we'd never tried before. But actually, it just made Ozzy angry. We gave it a go, but it wasn't for us.

“What we've done we've done together and with the help of our family.”

Ozzy, 65, and Sharon have been married for 30 years and have three children together - Aimee, 30, Kelly, 29, and Jack, 28, but after Ozzy relapsed the couple's marriage hit a rocky patch.

They are now looking ahead to the future and plan to spend their first Christmas for six years at their mansion in Buckinghamshire, South East England.

Sharon said she will be “locking the doors and lighting the fires” during the festive season.

She said: “But the best thing is, this Christmas Ozzy will be 10 months sober, which is fantastic.”

The talent judge, who won 'The X Factor' on Sunday night (15.12.13) with her act Sam Bailey, said she couldn't have wished for a better contestant to end her one-year return to the show.

She added: “It has been the most incredible life-changing experience for her, which is what The X Factor is really about.”
