Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino has had an assault charge downgraded.

The former Jersey Shore star was able to prove to Middletown Municipal Court Judge Richard Thompson that he has completed a 12-week anger management programme following his arrest after a “scuffle” with his brother Frank this summer, so the judge reduced the charge to a municipal violation.

Addressing Mike, Frank and their sister Melissa, the judge said: “This was an unfortunate family situation that has been resolved.”

The 32-year-old star pleaded guilty to the lesser offence and will pay a fine of less than $600 (R6 500), including court costs.
