The night I said no to Lindsay LohanComment on this story
Johannesburg - James Franco has penned a fictional account of the night he didn’t sleep with Lindsay Lohan. The actor, who Lohan named as one of her alleged Hollywood sexual conquests on the infamous list she misplaced in the Beverly Hills hotel, has always insisted that he never slept with the troubled star.
The truth, however, is stranger than fiction – or perhaps Franco is just strange. Certainly, the actor has managed to muddy the waters with “Bungalow 89”, the tale he penned for Vice, in which he describes the night Lohan knocked on his door at the infamous Chateau Marmont. This is purportedly a piece of fiction, featuring “our fictional Hollywood girl, Lindsay” who is described as “a talented child actress” who is now “famous because she gets into trouble.”
In this story, Franco entreats Lohan to a night of JD Salinger instead of a booty call.
Below is an extract from “Bungalow 89”:
“My phone rang. She let it ring until I answered.”
“You're not going to let me sleep, are you?”
“Do you think this is me? Lindsay Lohan. Say it. Say it, like you have ownership. It's not my name anymore.”
“I just want to sleep on your couch. I'm lonely.”
“We're not going to have sex. If you want to come in, I'll read you a story.”
“A bedtime story?”
“It's called 'A Perfect Day for Bananafish.' “
“Do you think I've created this? This dragon girl, lion girl, Hollywood hellion, terror of Sunset Boulevard, minor in the clubs, Chateau Demon? Do you think this is me?”
“Bungalow 89” is essentially a journey through Franco’s career, detailing his meetings with iconic figures like Gus Van Sant and River Phoenix, as well as another encounter with Lohan on the set of a movie in which he again refused to have sex with her. But mostly, this work is about the dangers of fame.
“I dreamed about vampires, and a voice came to me. It was a demon,” writes Franco.
“The demon said, 'I live on the power of celebrity, and I am a celebrity. I am the power bestowed on people like you by all the myriad reflectors of your celebrity … You are immortal and live on forever, on the screen and in the minds of the peoples'. “ - Tonight Reporter
