London - Christina Applegate will return to ‘Saturday Night Live’ this month after a 19 year absence.

The ‘Anchorman’ star – who last hosted the comedy sketch show in 1993 – has been confirmed for the October 13 episode, which will see Passion Pit as the musical guest, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Other stars lined up for this season of ‘Saturday Night Live’ include Bruno Mars, who will be both host and musical guest on October 20.

It was recently revealed that Christina will reprise her role as Veronica Corningstone in the follow up to 2004’s ‘Anchorman’ starring Will Ferrell as Ron Burgundy.

Although Christina initially stated she had not been approached, producer Judd Apatow has confirmed she is onboard to appear in the forthcoming motion picture.

When asked if Christina will make an appearance in the movie, Judd said: "She will be back."

Judd is also hoping the movie will follow on from the first film - which starred Steve Carell and Paul Rudd, who are both expected to return for the sequel - and feature a number of celebrity cameos after attracting Jack Black, Ben Stiller and Luke Wilson for the original motion picture.

He added: "I know that they want to do a lot of that. I just don't know who they're specifically thinking about." - Bang Showbiz
