KWAZULU-Natal’s last Idols hope, Crystalene Nair, was voted out of the singing competition last night after being in the bottom three with Brenden Ledwaba and the bubbly Bunny Majaja.
Nair, who made it to the top six of the competition, sang popstar Rihanna’s Right Now smash hit on Sunday. She received the least votes by the close of voting.
The primary school science teacher wowed the judges in the early stages of the competition and even made Idols judge Unathi Msengana cry when she performed Over The Rainbow in her audition. She said in a recent interview that she was willing to quit her teaching career and pursue her dream of becoming a songbird – even if she did not win Idols this season.
And that was the question people were asking on Twitter last night after her dismissal from the competition.
@ThembaNxumalo2 tweeted: “@IdolsSA Crystalene where to from now? #AskIdolsSA”
@Wolotlo, or Otlotlong Momphi, tweeted: “#AskIdolsSA I just want to wish her much prosperity on wat ever will come her way, she deserves everything ? #crystalene #tight_hug”.
And there were messages of support from fans to the departing songbird.
@ednafamous, or Mukwewa, tweeted: “Bye @Crystalene, you have done your best goodbye”.
@leeann_naidoo tweeted: “Awww @CrystaleneNair your went as far as you could... You were and still are amazing.. @IdolsSA Missing out on all the really Good Singers (sic)”.
Idols is on MNet or Mzansi Magic on DSTV, Sundays at 5.30pm. - Daily News
