STRIP THE CITY, Discovery World, 6.20pm

How do Dubai’s skyscrapers stand on the sand? What keeps San Francisco’s biggest structures anchored during earthquakes? Find out, and explore the geological, architectural and technological foundations of the world’s largest cities. CGI animation peels back walls, rolls up tarmac, drains oceans and rivers and slices through rock to expose the hidden infrastructure beneath London, Rome, Dubai, Sydney, Toronto and San Francisco.

AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL, Vuzu Amp, 7.30pm

The models have their balance tested when they have to walk on a spinning runway during a turntable challenge judged by the editor-in-chief of Nylon Magazine, Marvin Scott Jarrett.

THE NEWSROOM, M-Net Edge, 8pm

Experiencing a loss of viewer trust from the Genoa retraction, the news team treats a breaking story about the Boston Marathon bombings with guarded caution. Maggie and Elliot are sent to Boston, and after he has an allergic reaction, she steps in to report in impressive fashion. Sloan, using a computer program that allows her to review financial information in great detail, follows a tip from a friend about a company that may be bought out. Neal is contacted by an anonymous source and given a file containing confidential and stolen documents regarding riots overseas.

TRANSPORTER: THE SERIES, Fox, 8.30pm

Frank Martin returns as the Transporter. Joined by two new team members, Caterina Boldieu, an ex-DGSE agent and, later on, Jules Faroux, a computer and mechanical whizz, Frank is hired to deliver a diverse range of packages – from pop princesses to priceless paintings. Season two will have the audience on the edge of their seats as Frank drives them through the twists and turns of each episode.
