THE FORCE is here – in more ways than one. MultiChoice are known for their pioneering exploits. Whether its Explora or Express – you have to hand it to the pay-TV network – they set the bar.

Now they have pulled another rabbit out of the hat. M-Net Movies and MultiChoice are launching a Star Wars Pop-Up Channel. The channel starts on Monday and runs until September 13.

The line-up starts with the 1977 Star Wars and next is Star Wars: A New Hope, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.

Viewers can also catch doccies, animated features and other offerings orbiting the Star Wars universe.

Yolisa Phahle, M-Net chief executive South Africa, commented: “This is a great coup for us. Creating a movie channel dedicated to Star Wars is an initiative that Star Wars fans will enjoy, but we also hope to introduce this iconic programming to a new audience. Our M-Net Movies Star Wars channel again shows that we continue to align ourselves with the hottest trends and biggest brands while embracing the future of visual entertainment.

Of course, the timing couldn’t be better with the December release of Star Wars: The Force Awakes.

And The Walt Disney Company Africa have their own plans to promote the upcoming movie, too.

As of September 7, fans in Joburg (at the Mr Price Court in Sandton City) and Cape Town (The Edgars court, Canal Walk) will be able to peruse the art gallery installations of some of the most iconic moments from the six Star Wars releases.

Back to the channel, may the force be with whomever has the remote control!
