Food-throwing time for C-list celebs

JUSTIN’S, Nobu, Kulture Noir, Beso and Wahlburgers. What do all these names have in common?

All of them are or were owned by celebrities. You may have heard them name-dropped in a Kanye West lyric or seen them in paparazzi shots, but restaurants that are owned by famous people attract more famous people.

Wherever famous people eat is wherever hot girls want to eat (and maybe throw up in the bathrooms so that they stay being hot girls).

And this means, drumroll please, men who have money will frequent the aforementioned restaurants with the hope that they will get a famous guy’s leftovers when the hot girl is left sitting at the table with a large bill and the famous guy is posing for the paparazzi.

It makes sense then that more familiar faces would want to own an eatery. But what if they know nothing about fine cuisine and they don’t really have the money to fund a food joint by themselves?

Hey, it happens. To C-grade celebs. Those Cs can be found on Famous Food which airs on Top TV’s Star! on Mondays. Filmed last year, this reality show sees seven pseudo stars get put together to open and eventually own a restaurant.

Over several weeks, the vastly different personalities are forced to work together to make sure the restaurant, which is named Famous Food, opens on time. But only one of them can win the coveted prize of actually owning shares in the Hollywood restaurant.

The contestants are Danielle Staub, who you may have seen in The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Jake Pavelka, who took part in seasons of The Bachelorette and then The Bachelor. Also competing are two members of Grammy Award-winning rap group (just that title still rubs some people up the wrong way) Three 6 Mafia, DJ Paul and Juicy J Heidi Montag, who is the blonde from the Hills and is also part of the group. So is Vincent Pastore who starred in The Sopranos and Ashley Dupre, who is a sex colum- nist but really made her name by being a callgirl for Eliot Spitzer, who was the governor of New York, in 2008.

Last week, Juicy J, who who is rather fond of alcohol, proved that he may be the weakest link of the group, but that has nothing on the stunts he’s going to pull this week.

Chairs flying, curse words thrown and cameras pushed out of the way. It’s all in Famous Food.

Even if you don’t care who wins, it’s interesting to watch how the lower the celeb is on the totem pole, the more they’ll draw attention to themselves.

• Famous Food is on Star! (Top TV Channel 179) every Monday at 7.30pm
