Stand out with these 3 summer looks!
“I was asked a few times to join the show, but I wasn’t quite sure about it so I could not make up my mind,” said TV personality Masechaba Lekalake (pictured).
She had been approached by e.tv to host a new talk show on one of their new channels, eKasi+.
Much like the American programme The Talk, Eksê, Let’s Talk with Masechaba Lekalake will see Lekalake and a few celebrities of her choice debating current affairs in the studio.
“I met e.tv’s Monde Twala for the third time and he convinced me to do this show. I looked at what the channel eKasi+ stands for and I changed my mind. I love people and anything that draws me close to people has my attention,” she said.
The next task was to rope in some familiar yet opinionated faces to join Lekalake on the show. The names of comedian and reality star Tol A$$ Mo and Refilwe Modiselle came up.
“I have known Mo for years and have loved him and Mome (his wife) forever. He is a sharp yet funny character and we need a person like that on the show. He always keeps us in stitches, on and off camera.”
As for Modiselle, Lekalake has long admired the model.
“I knew of Refilwe through the industry, but we had never met. I took notice of her when she was on Pabi Moloi’s show and thought to myself, ‘here is a smart girl’. She is very intelligent and sweet at the same time. I see from Twitter that she is not one to let anyone walk over her. I thought (that since) all we know about her is the modelling it would be interesting to have her on a TV show,” said Lekalake.
Modiselle is also excited to be part of the trio for this gig: “I knew Masechaba from events and since we formally met she has become a very close sister of mine. I studied with Tol A$$ Mo so it feels like we’re reuniting. When I am with them on the show I feel as though I am with my brother and sister, just hanging out.”
For Modiselle the show is about highlighting issues that affect ordinary South Africans and stimulating some sort of debate.
“We three are opinionated people who say what’s on everyone’s mind, but they are afraid to say it. So we open the doors for debate,” she said. “We are not out to educate anyone, but merely give food for thought.”
