Mzansi’s football Wags (wives and girlfriends of sportsmen) are used to taking a backseat to their husbands and boyfriends when it comes to enjoying the limelight.

On Tuesday night, however, the tables will turn.

All the spotlight will be placed on South Africa’s most fame-hungry soccer wives and girlfriends as the debut of reality TV show, Diski Divas, air on Mzansi Magic.

The show will give viewers an up-close view into the glitz and the glamour of big nights out and all the trimmings that come with being on the arm of some of soccer’s biggest stars.

They will also witness what it takes to live in this high stakes world – the drama, the back-stabbing, the fear of losing it all in one quick move.

In short, Diski Divas will show what it takes for soccer’s royalty babes to get their hustle on! Expect back-stabbing, glitz, glamour, fashion, parties and more back-stabbing.

Viewers will be taken into the lives and homes of the women, and get an up-close view of what it takes to live in the fast-paced world of soccer.

The show will follow the journeys of five of the country’s most fame-hungry soccer wives and girlfriends, and will look at where they come from; what it took to get where they are; their hopes and aspirations; the different aspects of their lives, from parenting to careers; the sacrifices they have had to make and the ups-and-downs of being in a environment that can often be harsh and unforgiving.

Pivotal will be the Diski Diva’s relationships with their soccer-playing men, both past and present.

The five divas who will be opening their hearts and homes are Felicia Modise, the former wife of Teko Modise; Gaositwe “Gigi” Pule, the wife of Bournemouth and Bafana Bafana soccer star, Tokelo Rantie; Nonhle Ndala, Andile Jali’s girlfriend; Wendy Parker, the wife of Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs star Bernard Parker, and Kat Mohoadube, the ex of former Kaizer Chiefs captain, Jimmy Tau.

Speaking to the Saturday Star ahead of the show’s debut tomorrow night, Wendy Parker said she was nervous but excited to see how South Africans respond to the show.

“I have mixed emotions, to be honest. I’m a little nervous but excited too. I’m looking forward to having viewers tune in to see the lifestyle we live.”

Parker said that viewers will be given the opportunity of getting to know her on a personal level. “People will see all my strengths and weakness, my devotion to my family, and my passion for charity.”

The 31-year-old, Durban- born BA law and criminology student met Bernard eight years ago when she was a manager at a sports store in Durban. The two have been married since 2011 after Bernard proposed during a trip to the Netherlands.

She said her husband had fully supported her decision to feature on the reality show.

“Bernard is a team player so I have his 100 percent support. It was not an easy decision for me and I loved that the show enables me to reach out and motivate all the young girls.”

She said she has had her hands full trying to juggle the shooting of the show, looking after her two boys, as well as her studies.

“Shooting the show was definitely hectic, with me being so hands-on with the kids that it made it a little difficult for me to be away from them.”

Asked if she had formed a bond with the other Wags during the shooting, Wendy said she could not reveal much.

“All the ladies are great on the show, though there are a few challenges. But you will have to tune into the show to see those can’t give too much away.”

Diski Divas will air at 6pm tomorrow on Mzansi Magic DStv channel 161.
