This past weekend marked the birthday of singer/songwriter and SAMA nominated artist, Chad Saaiman.

It was also the talented musician’s first birthday since his near-fatal shooting, which occurred during a hijacking attempt in Johannesburg in 2011.

It was fitting therefore that this birthday was his biggest one yet.

Top Cape Town radio station, Good Hope FM, was the title sponsor of the celebrations which took place at St Yves in Camps Bay. Also on board as sponsors were Simply Asia, Gordons Gin, Black Bottle Whisky, Vida e Caffé, Girls at Play.TV, Legacy of Sound and young creative agency, I love local.

The event was star-studded with a number of well-known personalities from the entertainment industry in attendance.

Expresso presenters, Leigh-Anne Williams and Katlego Maboe were MCs, while musical talents Lucy Tops, Manny Walters and Jimmy Nevis showed the crowd exactly why their stars are on the rise.

The afterparty was nothing short of amazing with Good Hope FM DJs Mixi and Tyrone Paulsen hitting the decks. Joining them on the “ones-and-twos” were Dale Parker, Shaun Duvet and Harael Salkow of St Yves, as well as DJ Xee from the Soul Life stable.

Chad Saaiman is back on the entertainment scene in a major way, with the release of a new single, BangX2 (pronounced Bang Bang), written by Durban-based artist, Mario Ogle. The video to the track was shot at the trendy 15 on Orange Hotel, and had it’s debut at the event, along with the trailer for the Fort Films-produced documentary, Soldier, which centres on the singer’s brush with death.

“To say that Chad has made a full recovery is an understatement. This is only the beginning of what the label and Chad have in-store for the remainder of 2012 and beyond,” said Stereotype Records CEO, Lee Saaiman.

“I can’t wait for fans to experience my new lease on life through the many creative projects I will be launching,” Chad added.
