Dead Like Me l Fox (top tv) l 8.15pm

FOR those who haven’t been exposed to this comedy-drama TV series that tends to wallow in fantasy as well, it is centred on Georgia Lass (Ellen Muth?),, a college drop-out who is killed in a freak accident. But instead of enjoying her “afterlife” she is put to work as a grim reaper for the External Influence division.

Having made her peace with her fate in the first season, the second instalment revolves around Georgia helping others like her adjust to the afterlife and deal with her parents getting a divorce. In tonight’s episode, a new head reaper named Cameron Kane takes over the reins from Rube Sofer (Mandy Patinkin). Cameron’s disinterest in helping the newly dead puts immense strain on Daisy and Mason, who seek solace at the end of a bottle. Meanwhile, George and Reggie find common ground after George reaps a new friend of Reggie’s.

Grand Designs l BBC Lifestyle l 7.30pm

EVERYBODY wants their home to embody the comfort and style that would be the envy of their neighbours. However, achieving the desired result is an expensive feat that is compounded by the stress of building mishaps, especially when said homeowners decide to build their dream homes as well.

Designer and author Kevin McCloud chats to those folk who decide to push the envelope with their home designs.

In this season, viewers are introduced to a family from Cheltenham, who decide to sell their mansion and build a modern low-maintenance house in their back garden; an architect from Bristol, who plans an unusual home for his family where everything is white and open plan; and a couple who go down a rather alternative route when they opt for a German prefabricated kit house which has great green credentials.

National Security l M-Net Action l 8pm

IF you want to de-stress, it might be worth your while to immerse yourself in the silly crime-fighting shenanigans of Martin Lawrence and Steven Zahn. An unlikely pairing, I have to admit, but they certainly tickle the funny bone in their respective roles.

In this action comedy, Hank Rafferty (Zahn) is dismissed from the police force when he is incorrectly charged with the brutal assault of Earl Montgomery (Lawrence), a wannabe police officer who works as a security guard. In a twist of fate, these two sworn enemies end up looking into a series of burglaries displaying the same modus operandi.

The Tyra Banks Show l SABC3 l 2.30pm

WHILE she may have owned the catwalk at one point, I can’t say she has the same clout as a talk show host.

Honestly, I think Tyra Banks’s mission with her talk show, which was meant to focus on issues concerning the fairer sex, has failed horribly. If anything, her topics are pretty banal, and, aside from fluttering her fake lashes at every opportunity, she fails to grip the attention of viewers.

Fortunately for her, the audience ratings have been kind enough to see her through a plethora of seasons.

In today’s episode, Banks gets Halle Berry to open up about how she reclaimed her sex-symbol figure after the birth of her daughter, Nahla. The actress also opens up about hair weaves and promotes her new fragrance, Halle.
