Clint de Beer, last year's Bar-One Manhunt winner.

The Bar-One Manhunt reality TV show is back for yet another season. The reality series is like a few pages of Men’s Health and GQ magazine, only with the people animated.

Production company Seven20 Entertainment has announced that the nationwide search for contestants will begin later this month. As usual, only men can enter, and not just any guys, but those considered men among men.

“The search is for the most rugged man; a man of integrity and character who has the energy and resilience to live up to life’s expectations. Someone who lives, works and plays 25/7.”

So says the Bar-One Manhunt brief that encapsulates what or who they are looking for.

Any guy who is self-conscious about his looks, physique or even dress sense is cut out for this show as they will go through vigorous yet fun tasks throughout its duration. The winner will walk away with a cool R1 million in prizes and the honour of being the next Bar-One Man.

Tonight caught up with the winner of the first season, Clint de Beer, and he told us he was excited about the second season.

After having climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, raced on camels, rafted across white waters and sky-dived, De Beer was glad it all paid off in the end.

“My life is back to normal,” said the Joburg salesman.

“It was a very thrilling journey to be on Manhunt. I loved every minute of it. We went to interna-tional locations and did out-of-this world activities that would cost a fortune. And to win in the end was a bonus,” he said.

He recalled one task as being a test to see who among the contes-tants would be able to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.

“I am glad to be able to say I’ve struck off that from my bucket list. It was something I would never ordinarily do, but I am so glad I did. It was hard, and at some point I thought I was going to die, but looking back, it was all worth it,” he explained.

De Beer said that although the season for which he entered the show was great, the coming series promised to be even better.

“As with anything, at first they started learning. This time there is a bigger budget and the contes-tants travel to international loca-tions, getting five-star treatment all the way. It’s got a whole lot better,” he said.

It is a good thing he won because not only did he walk away with a prize that included a car and a trip to the Seychelles, De Beer has been asked to rejoin the show on a consultation basis.

“They called me to say they will need me to be a judge and a motivator for the guys. I will be talking to them about my expe-riences and helping them be mentally ready,” he said.

So the question remains, are you that guy? If you think so then get to these venues to audition.

Entrants must be available to attend the auditions in Durban, Joburg or Cape Town:

• Thursday, February 23 at Gateway Shopping Centre, Durban.

• Friday, February 24 and Saturday 25 at Rosebank Mall, Joburg.

• Sunday, February 26 at the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town.

• Competition is open to males aged 18 to 40. See www.barone. co.za to submit your entry.
