Masterclass and international scholarship programme opportunities for singers:

Applications are invited from prospective participants in a masterclass to be held in Pretoria in February next year, conducted by Professor Josef Protschka from musikhochschule in Cologne, Germany. Between January 31 and February 6, Protschka will offer masterclasses at the University of Pretoria. Candidates are asked to send a CV and an audio recording, (preferably mp3 files) to [email protected]. The recording should include one work each from the Baroque and Classical (preferably Mozart) periods, a 19th-century opera aria, plus a lied of the candidate’s choice. Eight candidates will be accepted. The deadline is December 1. Selected candidates will be responsible for organising their travel to and accommodation in Pretoria, but no charge for the masterclass. One student will be chosen for a one-year academic study with Protschka at the Music College in Cologne. The Apollo Music Trust will cover the expenses of that year of study. Call for Proposals:

Call for proposals for the main programme of the South African State Theatre (April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2016).

It offers theatre practitioners the opportunity to present their productions on any of their six stages. The theatre will fund successful productions to the tune of R200 000 and the venue for four weeks including move-in; access to wardrobe and décor; marketing, advertising and publicity; 15 percent of gross box office income.
