After a sold-out run at The Lyric Theatre last year, the critically acclaimed “Buckled” is back. Starring Leeanda Reddy, better known as Priya in the popular soapie “Isidingo”, and Meren Reddy (who appears in the sitcom “City Sesla”), “Buckled” focuses on the wedding preparations of a young Indian couple.

The two Reddy’s take on the roles of the various characters who meddle in the wedding couple’s plans. These include a street-smart grandmother, a drunken uncle, and of course, the mothers - all identifiable, yet hilarious, personas. The title “Buckled” refers to the impending marriage - but the road to tying the knot promises to be a bumpy one for high-school friends Yash and Shalendran. Whether you have lived through the event that is an Indian wedding, or can’t tell a sari from a samoosa, “Buckled” promises to entertain on all fronts.

The shows will take place from 28 to 31 July. Shows start at 8:30pm, except the Sunday show, which starts at 2pm. Tickets are priced between R140 and R145 and are available through Computicket or at The Lyric Box Office 011 248 5000. Log onto www.goldreefcity.co.za for more information.
