GIG OF THE WEEK

Ntsiki Mazwai, Admiral, Jahseed and Pops Mohamed

Joburg Promusica’s Basement Theatre (Sunday)

If you are wondering what you should be doing on Sunday, look no further than The Mama Said Sessions (where young artists can showcase their talent and leading artists share their knowledge) featuring Ntsiki Mazwai, who will give us her take on an interesting subject: men.

With her wordsmith skills and the subject being that of the so- called “runners of the world” it should be interesting to hear what Mazwai has to say.

Not so long ago she spent a few days seething on social networks over the alleged attack on television and radio personality, Bonang Matheba, by her then boyfriend, DJ Euphonik.

Mazwai was bold to publicly condemn the incident in various posts on Facebook and Twitter.

Now that the fourth The Mama Said Sessions is to take place a few weeks after the unfortunate fight, and Mazwai will be on the mic, with the subject zoomed in on men, I shudder to think what the night is going to be like for male revellers.

If you’ve seen a Tyler Perry film, then you know how the ladies get all worked up once the flick is over as they are reminded how harsh men can be at times.

But it’s not only the bad that Mazwai will rhyme about in her impressive poetry, she will also look at the good men out there, or what it takes to be one.

Previous hosts of The Mama Said Sessions include Lilian Dube, Nomsa Manaka and Mazwai’s sister, Thandiswa.

Helping Mazwai will be Jahseed, Pops Mohamed and The Admiral. The show will start at 2.30pm for 3pm and R40 at the door will get you in.

The Joburg Promusica Basement Theatre is at 100 Christiaan de Wet Drive, Florida Park, Roodepoort.

For more information, call |011 674 1357, or e-mail nevolanr@promusica.co.za

The sessions take place every last Sunday of the month. - Munyaradzi Vomo
