THE CATALINA THEATRE, WILSON’S WHARF: Musho! Festival of One- and Two-Hander Theatre runs from Wednesday, January 16, to Sunday, January 20 , featuring 20 productions all celebrating the art of the one- and two-person plays. Musho – Zulu for an “enthusiastic praise response”, something similar to “bravo!” – embraces many forms of theatre: from mime to physical theatre, drama to comedy. THE RHUMBELOW THEATRE: Platform Jazz. The Dixieland jazz band, with singer Shelley McLean, perform January 18 to 27. The band promises a varied programme which will include Honeysuckle Rose, Tiger Rag, I’ve Got you under My skin, In the Mood, Pennsylvania 6500, Take 5, Almost Like Being in Love, and L.O.V.E. One of the highlights of the show is Big Spender. The musos include Cathy “Hotlips” Peacock on trumpet, Ian “Lightning fingers” Holloway on clarinet, Dunc “the Hunk” Wooldridge on trombone, Jono Judge on sax, Melvin “The Keys” Peters on keyboard, “Bashful” Bruce Baker on drums and Andreas “Bullfiddel” Kappen on double bass.
