South African jazz artist Melvin Peters and his quartet will present versions of tunes composed and performed by Brubeck. Peters has performed internationally and this year commemorates 30 years as a professional jazz pianist. The jazz world continues to mourn Brubeck who died in December 2012. Now the magic returns in a whacky spin- off for three performances in The Ladies of Lollipop Lane. Starring Pauline Dalais and Shika Budhoo as the much-loved Mrs Singh-Singh and Mrs Singh-Song; and co-directed by Marius and Caroline Smart, The Ladies of Lollipop Lane features a stellar line-up of comedy favourites. THE PLAYHOUSE: Classic ballet masterpieces performed to music by top French composers is what audiences will experience when Crown of the Russian Ballet tours the country. The Moscow theatre company will perform at the Playhouse Opera Theatre on May 20 and 21 at 7.30pm. The programme celebrates masterpieces of French music in ballet, including Camille Saint Saens’s Dying Swan, Jacques Brel’s Don’t Leave Me and Ravel’s Bolero.
