BAT CENTRE: After receiving rave reviews for three years, stand-up comedy show Charous and Bruinous is back just for the festive season. Catch Richelieu Beaunoir, Masood Boomgaard, Neil Green, Simmi Aref and Arnotte Payne in what’s described as a “cultural adventure”. Friday and Saturday at 8 pm. R100 at Computicket and Shoprite.

CATALINA THEATRE: Last year’s Animal Tails was a silly adventure, five stories filled with high jinks and laughter. This year, see Animal Tails II. Will Winnie the Warthog realise her dream of being a fashionista? Or will the evil twin bunnies and their henchman ruin her plan? Will the three Amigo Pups get the stash, or will the mean cat Gruesome foil their plan? Who will win the TV quiz show with the dashing Monkee Jones and his gorgeous Hello Kitties? Will Rolex the Watchdog learn a valuable lesson in kindness on the farm? Filled with sing-along action songs and humour, it’s an entertaining and educational show for the whole family. There will be a cameo appearance by Justin Beaver as well as the debut performance of the talented Savanna Rae Grace (four-and-a-half years old) as the show’s opening act. 11am daily. THE PLAYHOUSE: The Playhouse Company and Stable Theatre present Nkanyezi – The Star in The Playhouse Loft. Created by the award-winning team of director Thuli Dumakude, musical director Faca Kulu and scriptwriter and assistant director Caroline Smart. The cast features Khanyisile Jwaha, Faca Kulu, Lyschelle Linderboom, Thabani Mahlobo, Robyn McHarry and Derosha Moodley. Ends Friday at 7.30pm. Matinee on Saturday at 2pm. CATALINA THEATRE: The international spoof comedy The 39 Steps runs until December 30. Directed by Themi Venturas, it features Clare Mortimer, Loyiso McDonald, Michael Gritten and Clinton Small as the title character, Richard Hannay. Saturday and Sunday have two low-price previews. UMHLANGA: The uMhlanga Summer Carnival takes place in and around uMhlanga until December 23. It starts with the Summer Surf Session. THE BARNYARD THEATRE, Gateway: Catch The Seven Wonders until January 6. Experience what it would be like for Elvis Presley and Christina Aguilera to sing a duet, Whitney Houston to croon with Bryan Adams, while Bob Marley keeps up the spirits with songs such as One Love and Three Little Birds. Carlos Santana adds mystery with She’s Not There and Smooth, and Chris de Burgh brings his flair with A Spaceman Came Travelling, Don’t Pay the Ferryman, Lady in Red and more. THE HERITAGE THEATRE: To celebrate the festive season, The Heritage is staging a selection of the best party songs to see us ending the year with a bang. Expect music from Maroon 5, Bryan Adams, Bruno Mars, Kings of Leon, Coldplay, Queen, Sting, Journey and many more. The show is fronted by Barry Thomson with Marion Loudon and Jerryn Fosteras. ELIZABETH SNEDDON THEATRE: Get ready to be swept away by one of the most popular and romantic stories ever told. KickstArt presents Disney’s popular Broadway musical hit Beauty and the Beast. Ends January 6. R130 to R200 at Computicket.

USHAKA MARINE WORLD: Dolphins by Starlight with the theme park’s superstars, queens of splash Affrika, Tombi, Khanya and Zulu, saltwater showmen Kelpie, Jula, Khwezi and Ingelosi and show-stopper Gambit. A Christmas tradition, the show features selected top 100 Christmas songs that extend from well-known carols to contemporary favourites and a smattering of classics. IZULU THEATRE, SIBAYA CASINO: The Michael Jackson musical biography HIStory II comes to Durban. A spectacular musical biography of Jackson’s life runs until January 6, with one special performance being staged at Sun International’s Wild Coast Sun on December 26. This musical biography will take fans back to the Jackson 5 era before continuing on a thrilling journey to this decade . It features more than 20 songs performed live by impersonator Kenny Wizz. WESTRIDGE STADIUM: Mbongeni Ngema’s Committed Artists Foundation will present the inaugural Siyagiya Durban International Music and Cultural Carnival 2012. It’s a grand-scale live entertainment event at Durban’s West Ridge Park Stadium to be held on December 21. This year’s components will comprise a concert running from 1pm to 7pm, followed by a mainstage extravaganza from 8pm to 1am. Siyagiya’s line-up includes Isicathamiya groups, gospel groups and popular artists such as Zonke, Freshlyground, Mbongeni Ngema, Thandiswa Mazwai, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Jimmy Dludlu and more. RHUMBELOW THEATRE: Bent Broadway brings the fabulous Family Players to the glitzy world of Broadway.
