TIME TO TOUR: The uncles Peru and Bala, and Karou Charou begin their national tour in KZN this weekend.
STABLE THEATRE: The Phambili Theatre Festival takes place with a line-up of shows running from Friday to Sunday. Six productions share the limelight with a book launch. VARIOUS VENUES: After three sell-out shows last month, the popular “uncles”, Peru and Bala, are embarking on a national tour. Joining them will be Karou Charou. Karou will anchor the show, while the uncles will do a variety of sets, bringing in other characters the audience know and love. The tour starts in KZN: on Friday they’re at The Cube in uMhlanga, on Saturday catch them at the Resmount Primary School Hall in Reservoir Hills, on Sunday they’ll be at the Embassy Premier Events Venue in Chatsworth. The show then moves to Richards Bay on April 6 and the Golden Horse Casino on April 26. In May the crew take their show to Port Shepstone, Umzinto and eMkhomazi (Umkomaas). GREYVILLE RACECOURSE: The Durban Catholic Players Guild will present its annual production of The Way of the Cross at Greyville Racecourse on Sunday. Starting at 3pm, The Way of the Cross tells the story of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Entrance is free and you are invited to bring a picnic basket to enjoy on the grassy area in front of the stands. For more information call 083 564 2929.
THE PLAYHOUSE: Think Theatre’s Othello stages at the Playhouse Drama Theatre until March 27. Schools performances: 9am and noon daily, Mondays to Fridays. Directed by Clare Mortimer, Loyiso MacDonald reprises the title role, Robyn McHarry again appears as Desdemona, Clinton Small as Iago, Mortimer as Iago’s wife, Emilia.
