BARNYARD THEATRE, Gateway: Ending May 26 is Glory Days. The evening is centred on a hilarious computer nerd called Wally, who wants to become a rock star just like his hero, Bruce Springsteen. Wally takes you on his musical journey as he transforms into a singing geek with hits by Richard Marx, Rick Astley and Boy George. He is also joined by the smooth Lionel Ritchie, divas Gloria Gaynor, Shirley Bassey and Tina Turner and artists such as Stevie Wonder, Sir Elton John, Bon Jovi, UB40 and more. Scripted by Ian von Memerty, Wally is brought to life by Tian Rautenbach. Also on vocals are Ramaine Barreiro Lloyd and Marvin Nethonondo, while the Barnyard band comprises Calli Thomson (keyboards), Andy Murray (guitar), Mark Freel (bass guitar), Alan Lloyd (drums) and Kirsty Madgin (saxophone). RHUMBELOW THEATRE: Rocking the Greatest Hits stages from Friday to May 19. One singer. One stage. One Band. Krystle T, Chillie Stent, Reanne Leigh, Dale Wardell and Sebastian Gilchrist will be rocking your socks off with the greatest hits by Joe Dolan, Tina Turner, Bon Jovi, Queen, Elvis P!nk, The Corrs, The Cranberries, Adele, Tom Jones, Don Mclean and more. VARIOUS VENUES: A host of respected classical musicians and dancers from India, and some of South Africa’s best, are set to perform at the Indian Academy of South Africa’s Heritage Series. Among those from India are Palakkad Sreeram, Raja Raja Cholan, Usha Raj and Meenakshi Gayathri Balaji. Bringing their own contributions to the series are Rajith George (keyboard), Sreekumar Krishnakutty (rhythm pad), Ramesh Velayudhan (flute), Tony Chimarel (guitar) and Muraleedharan Kanakath (tabla). Friday to Sunday. THE PLAYHOUSE: Nkosiyabona Zungu’s Long Way to Go stages until Sunday. The a cappella drama is set in KZN and looks at the history of Umkhonto We Sizwe (MK), the role it played in our country’s transition, and the challenges facing veterans in a democratic South Africa. Zungu does this through a plot centred on the character Jobe (Sandile Dlamini) and three of his comrades who return from exile to find themselves unemployed and unemployable. Directed by Zwelibanzi Sibiya. Features Peter Mashego, Sabelo Makhubo and Sandile Dlamini. R120 at Computicket.

SEABROOKE’S THEATRE: Cat Simoni in From West End to Broadway & Beyond! for one show only on Friday. Explores 10 extraordinary years entertaining sheiks, spies, rock stars, the famous and the not at London’s five-star hotels and private clubs. CATALINA THEATRE: Yugan Naidoo’s ¼ Beans Bru! VARIOUS VENUES: The popular “uncles”, Peru & Bala, are embarking on a national tour. Joining them will be Karou Charou. Karou will anchor the show, while the uncles will do a variety of sets, bringing in other characters. The tour continues at Sibaya Casino on Saturday and Sunday (including a Mother’s Day show), Port Shepstone Civic Hall on May 17, Orissa Inn (eMkhomazi – Umkomaas) on May 18, Umzinto Town Hall on May 19 and the Phoenix Fair on May 25.
