GIG OF THE WEEK

Heels over Head

Seaman’s Corner, Hammarsdale

(tomorrow)

TOMORROW, the all-female band Heels Over Head will be in Hammarsdale for the first time, playing at the Seaman’s Corner.

A press release states that their music can be defined as smooth jazz or easy-breezy pop jazz. They have a notable signature sound that consists of current African-influenced music and uniquely re-arranged standards. The band are known for getting the audience dancing to their rhythmic bass lines and cheerful melodies.

A love of jazz music brought these woman together at the end of 2008. Since then, they have been focused on composing, rehearsing and recording new music.

The press release further states that with their sparkling stage presence, it’s hard to miss the charm and charisma of their lead vocalists, Thulile Zama and Nomkhosi Mazibuko. They are joined by drummer Rebekah Doty and pianist Mandy Cobbing. Last but not least, guitarist Chillie Wardell-Stent joins the band.

This performance is supported by Concerts SA and produced by iSupport Music Business. Concerts SA is a joint South African/ Norwegian project housed under the auspices of the Stakeholder Hub within The Samro Foundation. – Tonight Reporter
