Gig of the week: GUY BUTTERY

Bluestockings, Kloof

THE RAMFEST

Wavehouse, Gateway

ACOUSTIC wizard Guy Buttery will thrill the audience’s senses at Bluestockings tomorrow.

After a two-month break from a world tour he will kickstart the year with a performance in his home town.

The musician won the Best Instrumental Album award at the Samas and two National Arts Festival awards last year. His latest offering, Fox Hill, also landed him in the pages of the international Guitar Player Magazine.

While many musicians have a laid-back approach, Buttery has been hard at work writing fresh material.

The gig begins at 8pm and R60 gets you in. For more information call 083 659 3628.

Another reason to be excited about the week ahead is that Ramfest coming to Durban for the first time. The epic event takes place at Gateway’s Wavehouse on Wednesday.

This year’s festival is going big as it is taking over Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg over a period of five days and across six stages. The line-up includes Die Antwoord, Zebra & Giraffe, Van Coke Kartel, Funeral For A Friend and Alkaline Trio. The host is comedian John Vlismas. Tickets cost R200 at www.ticketbreak.co.za
