Jonathan Roxmouth’s first children’s theatre show started at the weekend with much success.

Disney on Stage sees Roxmouth tap into his inner child has he revisits some of the best hits of Disney.

Punted as a show that is suitable for ages 6 to 86, it certainly proved to be one that delivers not just for the young, but for the young at heart, too.

And the key, I think, was in his playlist which covers a selection of Disney classics as well as songs form the new era of Disney.

Traditional Disney scores from the likes of Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins and more made for a nostalgic trip for the audience. And hits from the likes of Toy Story and Frozen were enjoyed by the youngsters in the audience.

Covering songs made famous by Disney heroes, villains and sidekicks, Roxmouth hits the nail on the head with this selection.

Now catering for an audience like this can’t be easy. Not only do have to convince the little ones that you can pull off Disney as they know it best, but you also need to entertain the adult audience with a show that is not too childlike.

Fortunately, Roxmouth strikes the perfect balancing act by entertaining all around and sharing a great rapport with the audience both big and small. The added laughs in between add to the fun, easy-going element of the show, including a Princess Ariel song that will leave you in stitches.

Roxmouth has also made the effort to include some visuals of the different Disney movies on a screen, which add to the ambience of the show.
