Looking for a rock ’n’ rolling good time these holidays? Well, Jägermeister has just the ticket for you in the form of Die MK Sesde Avontoer which will take place up and down the Western Cape’s coastline from December 21 to 31.

“Jägermeister has always been a rock ’n’ roll brand,” explained brand manager Brink van Zyl. “Avontoer therefore fits the brand.”

The tour will feature 16 artists across five coastal venues.

In the spirit of a travelling carnival, Die MK Avontoer will mobilise a host of musicians, photographers, troubadours, magicians and fans into a travelling party.

With more than 130 creative people concentrated on two buses and a travelling tent town of their own, the intention is to have a really great rock ’n’ roll time.

The line-up will include Van Coke Kartel, who have just released their fourth album, Wie’s Bang?. Other great bands to look out for will be Holiday Murray and Die Tuindwergies.

The roster of guest artists is also mind-blowing. Jack Parow kicks off the tour in Langebaan on December 21 and Struisbaai on December 23 .

Die Heuwels Fantasties play Mosselbaai on December 29 and Mr Cat and The Jackal join the tour in Hermanus on December 26.

The US group Kongos, who are selling like hot cakes in this country, will help Die MK Avontoer to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Stillbaai.

To become a seerower on the bus, e-mail [email protected], or go to www.seerowers.co.za where they are also giving away tickets.

The lucky winners will be announced on MK Studio 1 tomorrow night at 7.30pm.

This is just one of the projects Jägermeister has put its name, and money, behind.

“We are very passionate about South African music,” van Zyl said.

“Our long-term plans include taking South African bands to Jägerfests in Europe. In the next three years we want to give South African artists opportunities to develop. This will include trying to establish festivals in South Africa.”
