Whitney Houston died in the bath, but not from drowning.
TMZ.com reports that the singer died from a dangerous cocktail of Xanax, other prescription drugs and alcohol.
According to the website, the coroner's officials informed the family there was not enough water in the singer’s lungs for drowning to have been the cause of death. Houston may well have died before her head became submerged.
Meanwhile, Bang Showbiz reports that Houston is said to have gone on a 48-hour alcohol binge, passing out before slipping under the bath water on the night of her death.
She was discovered by her hairdresser - one of several members of her entourage in other parts of her fourth-floor suite at the Beverly Hilton Hotel - who found her with her face underwater and her legs in the air.
Half a dozen bottles of prescription drugs including Lorazepam, Valium and Xanax - used as sleeping aids, relaxants and to ease anxiety - are said to have been found in the suite.
After the hairdresser screamed, one of Whitney's bodyguards came into the bathroom and dragged her from the tub before attempting to revive her.
Unfortunately nothing could be done and the mother-of-one was pronounced dead at 3.55pm and her body was finally removed from the hotel yesterday morning (12.02.12).
On the Thursday before her tragic death (09.02.12) the 'I Will Always Love You' hitmaker looked disorientated and wild-eyed as she left Hollywood nightclub Tru in the early hours and had scratches on her wrist and blood running down her leg.
She was spotted downing tequila and went "berserk" when she saw on/off lover Ray J talking to US 'X Factor' contestant Stacy Francis.
Witnesses who saw her leave said she seemed "wasted".
Whitney then went out drinking again on Friday (10.02.12) and onlookers say her group was loud and boisterous.
She was also displaying erratic behaviour during the daytime and on Thursday she was seen wandering around the hotel lobby with soaking hair and mismatched clothes.
One source said she appeared bloated and "smelled of alcohol and cigarettes".
Following her untimely passing, Whitney's family issued a statement saying: "This is an unimaginable tragedy and we will miss her terribly." - Bang Showbiz and IOL

1 person dies and 100 million cry. 1 million die and no one cares. That refers to kids all over the world that are dying each day of hunger, illness, abuse, murder, etc. No one cares about these children, children that are suffering in their own country where you have a chance to help them, but whem some famous celeb dies, it's the end of the world. The society we live in is really messed up.

So tragic, such a waste. She grew up in church, yet chose the path to destruction. If she had continued as a Gospel singer, using her voice to glorify God as she served the Lord, would there have been this tragic ending?

Why do people only see the 'angel with a beautiful voice' and not see the 'twisted & tormented' person who actually died here. Only when someone is totally unhappy with their life, and the sate of being, would they resort to the drugs etc. that were needed to get through the day. Again, as in the MJ case, somebody must have been getting it or giving it to her and been aware of her situation. Not really a fan, but RIP Whitney. All the fame in the world, only to die sad and lonely. It does not make sense. Once more a sad tail of the rich and famous. Somethings are more important than fame and fortune.

Who are we to judge? who said when we dont do drugs , then we are perfect...we have many scandals hidden somewhere, but because we are not public figures they dont get published, and that gives us rights to judge other people...i think this is wrong. Go well Whitney, may you finally get a peaceful rest. i will always love you. you will be missed so dearly!

Last time you looked in the mirror you werent so perfect now were you. She was an absolutely amazing performer and her music will be listened to for generations to come.

Must the world mourn yet another druggie, who has run out of time? Does the fact that she is a has been superstar mean that she deserves special treatment? If I hear one more of her songs on the radio today, "in tribute" I am going to puke.

What a complete and utter waste. How selfish to abuse yourself so badly when you have a child that depends on you... Her daughters life will now and forever take a very hard turn, and who knows where she may end up. Hopefully she will not follow in her mothers shoes.

Here we go again...whenever some “starpersonality” kills himherself with some dope, they always take weeks to “conclude”the reason of death!!!It's more “let's see what we can cook up to get the fools to believe”.How pathetic they are...and nobody believes it anyway!!The only thing is does is getting people come up with more jokes about them and their sillystupid way of living. For God's sake...with all that money you die young and mireable??

When you overdose, you start burning up from inside, she was probably trying to use a cold bath to keep her body temp down. Sad, but the end was approaching a long time ago.

I agree, she was selfish to live a life like that knowing that she had a daughter who adored her, in the end she only thought of herself and look where that got her, Rest in Peace Whitney, it would seem death was the only thing that could slow you down.
