Are Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew getting back together again? Royal watchers are speculating that another wedding might be on the cards, and the Duchess of York did nothing to dispel those rumours over the weekend.
Asked if she and Andrew would ever tie the knot again, Fergie played coy, saying: “He’ll always be my handsome prince”.
Then, in an echo of their wedding vows, she added: “We really respect each other and we honour each other”.
According to the Daily Mail, recent reports suggest that the couple are in love again, nearly two decades after their marriage ended.
Insiders say the former couple have remained a close famil unit for the sake of their daughters – so close, that they may just walk down the aisle again.
Fergie, who is currently promoting her latest children’s book, told the audience at the Bath Children’s Literature Festival that her own story would have “a happy ending”.
“We had a very beautiful wedding,” she said.
“Mummies and daddies in the audience might remember it – I think they might have had a day off.
“He really is still my handsome Prince. We really believe in being good parents for our girls.
“It’s lovely that we are such a family and the story has a happy ending all the time.
“We really respect each other and we honour each other and it’s just lovely to have that sense of integrity, to what we believe is right; to what is good and compassionate and love and kindness. And that’s the way we are.”
Fergie and Andrew were married in 1986 and divorced in 1996. In a 1999 intervierw, she said: “There was no reason for Andrew and I to get divorced; there wasn’t another person in our lives to go to.
“We got divorced because I had to go out to work, and Andrew and I believed that it wasn’t right for me to be commercial while I was still in the Royal Family.”
Prince Andrew has continued to support his ex-wife financially, and didn’’t rule out the possiblity of remarrying her during an interview in 2009.
“Do we have to be married?” he said. “Well, let’s put it another way, I can neither confirm nor deny the possibility. We have two great children. We still look after them.”
