This 1976 quote by Woody Allen in a People magazine interview only serves to cast more doubt on his innocence with regards to the child abuse allegations levelled at him by his daughter Dylan Farrow.
Dylan penned an open letter to the film industry last week, in which she chastised Hollywood for ignoring the accusations she levelled against Allen and instead celebrating his artistic achievements. Woody Allen fired back, claiming not only that the allegations were untrue, but that Dylan’s mother Mia had somehow implanted them in Dylan’s impressionable mind.
Though the case was investigated at the time, Allen was never charged.
Mia Farrow took to Twitter this week in response to her ex-husband’s claim that she had brainwashed Dylan, and used her as a “pawn” in her fight with the director.
“I love my daughter,” she wrote. “I will always protect her. A lot of ugliness is going to be aimed at me. But this is not about me, it's about her truth.”
Dylan’s brother Ronan also tweeted in support of his sister. “I love and support my sister and I think her words speak for themselves.”
Allen has always protested his innocence, but in the court of public opinion, quotes and interviews like the one from People magazine won’’t help his cause. - Tonight Reporter
