Durban model and jet-setter Neetasha Singh spends most of her time travelling and walking the catwalks of the world. We speak to her:

First holiday memory?

I was 12 years old and my mum took me for my first international trip to India. When I got there I cried for days because of the poverty and street children that I had seen.

Favourite place in South Africa?

Cape Town. I am completely and utterly in love with the people, the energy and the lifestyle. I want to retire there. Cape Town is Europe in Africa.

Best holiday?

Amsterdam. I met strippers and danced with them.

What have you learnt from your travels?

That no matter where you go in the world, we are all just the same. We are so alike in our differences and I find a connection with every country I visit. Ultimately, we are all one and having the opportunity to travel has shown me this.

Ideal travelling companion?

My boyfriend. He is the opposite of me, so it’s always fun seeing him doing stuff that’s out of his comfort zone .

Beach bum, culture vulture or adrenalin junkie?

Adrenalin junkie.

Greatest travel luxury?

It would be my business class Emirates membership and the benefits that come with it.

Holiday reading?

I read a lot of travel magazines and I’m on the mailing list of almost every reputable travel agency in South Africa. This means I’m always getting the best travel specials and information e-mailed to me. I think this is great for everyone to have access to, so you can start planning your annual holiday in advance and you are kept up to date throughout the year. It’s a must-have.

Which place has seduced you?

Paris. The city is literally just filled with love.

Worst travel experience?

I don’t have any. I always try to find the best in every place I visit. It’s something I have programmed my mind to do and that seems to have worked so far.

Best hotel?

Dorchester Hotel in London

Favourite walk, swim, ride or drive?

I love walking through the streets of Germany and acknowledging its history. I visited the Dachau concentration camp which was the Nazi’s official headquarters. I think it’s so important to learn the history of every country you visit. You can share this knowledge with your loved ones and with your friends back home, and the ability to share your experiences is beautiful.

Best meal abroad?

That would definitely be Pakistani breyani.

Favourite city?

London, it’s my home away from home. I visit London maybe six times a year depending on how many fashion shows I’m booked for. I know the city like the back of my hand. Every visit is unique in its own way, allowing me to return home with beautiful memories.

Where to next?

I leave for Pakistan in a week for the Pakistan Fashion Week and then it’s off to New York for a fashion show in June.
