Chef Duncan Pontac from Cape Town named new chef at Radisson Blu Hotel and Residence.

Cape Town’s newest five-star hotel, the Radisson Blu Hotel and Residence, Cape Town, has announced the appointment of Duncan Pontac as Executive Chef. The hotel has just opened its doors and offers discerning leisure and corporate travellers as well as foodies a unique guest and gastronomic experience.

Chef Duncan Pontac was born and raised in an area of Cape Town well known for its hearty home cooking made in a kitchen filled with family and flavour. His love for food started at the young age of 6 where he would learn how to make Sunday dinners from his mother.  In his later years of high school, he was able to job shadow in the kitchen at a well-known city hotel for a week, a week that confirmed his desire to be a chef.

Pontac graduated from the Culinary Arts School in 2003 and after travelling through Asia, his need for heat and a diverse amalgamation of flavor grew to what is now his very own signature style of cooking.  While proficient in a variety of cuisines and modern cooking techniques he also has the sensitivity to create custom menus in accordance with one’s lifestyle and eating habits, while meeting all dietary considerations.

Prior to joining The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group’s Radisson Blu in 2015, Pontac gained valuable experience working at respected national hotels.

“Creating with food is my life’s passion and a journey of continuous discovery and growth. I take my appointment at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Residence with excitement as it is a challenge I look forward to. I extend an invite to please join us and experience what we have created at Sea Street Food, Bar & Lounge and Stratus Room restaurant”, says Pontac.
