This season's Vodacom Beach Clean-Up Campaign, which runs from December 15 until January 7, has increased the number of beaches to be cleaned to 24, requiring a total of 208 cleaners and 22 supervisors.

The clean-up, which is part of Vodacom's "Love someone, love summer" campaign, aims to collaborate with local municipalities at 24 of the most popular beaches across the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal to keep them spotless during the festive season.

"We are pleased to announce the fact that Vodacom has selected more beaches, with an additional three beaches being cleaned in KwaZulu-Natal at Mtwalume, Umgababa and also Blue Lagoon. This takes the number of KwaZulu-Natal beaches up to 11," said Palesa Chabula, executive head of Vodacom corporate communications.

The clean-up campaign, now in its fourth year, kicks off on Monday and will take place at the following beaches in KwaZulu-Natal:

- Blue Lagoon will be cleaned and for the first time, four beaches on the Golden Mile, including Bay Beach, North Beach, South Beach and Addington.

- On the North Coast, Umdloti and Westbrook have been selected.

- Umgababa, Mtwalume, Margate and Scottburgh beach will benefit from the campaign on the South Coast.
