If you are planning a trip to the coast during the peak travel period this festive season forget about overnighting in the Bloemfontein area.

There is no accommodation available in Mangaung and its surrounding areas from December 14 to December 21, because of the ANC’s elective conference from December 16 to December 20.

The Free State Tourism Authority is warning holidaymakers who have not yet made arrangements to reconsider their routes and book elsewhere.

There are 4 816 star-graded beds, 7 011 non-graded beds and the total number of beds is 11 827, according to the authority.

This includes beds in the homes of local residents who have decided to get out of town and let their homes during the conference.

Aside from those actually attending the conference, there are many dignitaries, family members and supporters who will also be in town for the period.

The tourism authority is overseeing a range of tours, concerts and other activities to keep the guests busy, and spending during their stay.
