If you're looking for an up-market game lodge that caters for families, read on. Inzalo Exclusive Safari Destinations - which owns, manages and markets some of South Africa's leading game lodges - is one of the few lodge operators in Africa to cater for families with children.

"We have two game lodges where children under the age of 12 are specifically catered for," said Inzalo chief executive Ian Beauchamp.

"These are Thornybush Game Lodge and Serondella in the Thornybush Game Reserve. Our other lodges - which include Simbambili in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve and Chapungu Luxury Tented Camp, Shumbalala and Nkaya in the Thornybush Game Reserve - can be reserved by families provided they are the sole guests there."

Serondella has a three-bedroom family suite facing the seasonal Monwana River and Thornybush Game Lodge has two five-star family suites. Children who visit Thornybush Game Lodge are assigned a game ranger for tailored game drives and bush walks.

Special meals and dining venues, as well as activities such as treasure hunts, can be arranged - and babysitters are readily available. Youngsters also receive ranger-in-training rucksacks filled with gadgets and toys.
