Johannesburg - One of Johannesburg’s best kept secrets, the Fairlawns Boutique Hotel and Spa, has officially been declared the ‘Best Luxury Boutique Hotel’ in South Africa by the World Luxury Hotel Awards.

The five-star sanctuary scooped this accolade during an awards ceremony which took place in Doha, Qatar last week.

Commenting on the award, Fairlawns’ managing director, Michael Kewley, says, “Fairlawns’ history and transformation over the last 19 years has set the scene for a truly unique and out-of-this-world African experience, something which has been reaffirmed by this prestigious award. It is truly an honour that our world-class service and luxurious accommodation has been recognised by the global public.”

The World Luxury Hotel Awards is a global organisation which honours hotels for their world class facilities and service excellence provided to guests. The awards are the pinnacle of recognition of accomplishments in the industry, with winners selected through public voting in over 60 categories.

“Winning this accolade would not have been possible without the dedication and unwavering commitment to excellence, which all 104 of Fairlawns staff embody”, concludes Kewley.

Established in November 1997, Fairlawns is one of Johannesburg’s original five-star boutique hotels. Once owned by the Little Brenthurst Trust of the Oppenheimer family, this impressive, five-and-a-half-hectare property exudes a park-like ambience with all the modern conveniences required by world-class travellers.

In the heart of South Africa’s richest business district, Fairlawns is surrounded by lavish residences and towering shopping malls. However, it is the tranquillity of the private rolling gardens with majestic age-old trees and prolific birdlife, amongst a million other reasons, which sets Fairlawns apart.
