Cape Town - A new map has been released to help visitors to South Africa follow the footsteps of former President Nelson Mandela.

Among the sites listed on the map are standard tourist destinations such as Robben Island, where Mandela was held as a prisoner, as well as his house in Soweto.

The map was released in co-ordination with the Nelson Mandela Foundation. It also features some less-known sites for tourists, such as the Kliptown Open Air Museum, where delegates to the Congress of the People met to adopt the Freedom Charter.

Qunu, in the Eastern Cape, where Nelson Mandela spent many happy days as a child and where he is buried, is a highlight.
